About the event

The eCooking Community of Practice (CoP) is pleased to host an in-person convening featuring our guest speaker Dr. Robert Van Buskirk, Chief Volunteer Organizer at Solar4Africa.org.

Dr. Robert will share insights from their recent pilot with Kachione LLC in Malawi, providing off-grid solar energy solutions, particularly for cooking, to rural communities. Kachione's innovative work, as captured in their recent report “Empowering Efficiency, Phase II: Refining an Affordable Solar Home System with eCooking for Rural Malawi”, presents valuable insights on the integration of solar and electric cooking technologies to enhance energy access and improve rural livelihoods.

This webinar aims to explore these practical experiences, unpack the technological and behavioral aspects of their interventions, and discuss how such approaches can inform and inspire similar efforts in Kenya and beyond. We will also have our colleagues from the Solar-Electric Cooking Partnership (SOLCO) talk about their initiatives across Africa.
